A few years ago, a friend of mine started doing a word of the year instead of resolutions. Since resolutions are really just good for a laugh a few months after you make them, I adopted her idea of focusing on one word and really making the effort to apply it to my life for the year. In 2011, my word was trust. Having had a difficult 2010, it was time I reaffirmed my faith in God and to trust in His timing (and I ended up pregnant 3 months later). So naturally, my word for 2012 was thanks. Last year really allowed me to look at many facets of my life and in turn be incredibly thankful for the life I have (and yes, still thankful). So as 2013 rolled around, I thought about this one for awhile. But I've decided my word to focus on this year is accomplish.

Accomplish: to succeed in doing. I think this is an appropriate word because there are so many ways to apply it: finishing some books and my many little projects I've started and left stagnant, achieving personal and financial goals I've set for myself, following through on my promises, being fulfilled by the Word, and I could go on and on. But yes, accomplish is my word for 2013.

I've started off this year by finishing up a small jewelry project I had the materials for. The pieces are made from lava rock and wire and sterling beads:
